Established in 1967, Martin Middle School serves students and families on Austin’s Eastside as part of the Eastside Memorial High School Vertical Team. Martin Junior High (now Martin Middle School) was opened to replace University Junior High. Named for Sam Martin, who was Austin ISD’s vocational coordinator and director of the nationally recognized Evening School Program, Martin was  Austin ISD’s first fully integrated school, serving Anglo, African-American, and Hispanic students. Martin has a rich history and diverse array of proud alumni.

The mascot for Martin is the eagle. The school colors are blue and gold.
